Student Opportunities at the Ren

Student committee members in Milwaukee, 2018

Student membership

All students in the Chicago area can get a free membership to the Renaissance Society. Just sign up here to receive our monthly student newsletter, invitations to special student events, and a 20% discount on our publications. Student membership is open to undergraduate and graduate students of all disciplines.

Thursday, October 4, 5:30-6:45pm: Join us for our first Student Members Social of the school year! You can see Shadi Habib Allah’s exhibition, Put to Rights, grab a snack and a Ren poster for your room, meet other student members, and find out what’s coming up here this fall. [more info on Facebook]

All students are welcome to join us, so please bring your friends. Afterwards we’ll head over together to the Logan Center for a free screening of works by Habib Allah and Serbian filmmaker Želimir Žilnik at 7pm.

Student committee

The Ren’s Student Committee is an active group of about 12 University of Chicago students, both undergraduate and graduate, from all fields of study. We’re looking for members who are enthusiastic about contemporary art and interested in learning more about the Renaissance Society’s program. Members act as ambassadors for the museum to the wider campus community and help get the word out about what we have to offer. In return, we offer a unique opportunity to engage behind-the-scenes with contemporary art, artists, museum professionals, and other students.

Student committee meetings take place every other week at the Renaissance Society, and we hope that members will endeavor to attend as many public Renaissance Society events as possible.

Applications are now closed Please complete our online application by WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17 at 9am. Successful applicants will be notified on Wednesday, October 17 and the first meeting will be held on Friday, October 19, 10-11am. Subsequent meetings this quarter will take place on November 2, November 16, and December 7.
