Joy of the Real, The Reception of “New Art” in 1970s Chicago: lecture

Anne Rorimer surveys a series of Minimalist and Conceptual exhibitions mounted in Chicago during a period when she was curator of contemporary art at The Art Institute and a pivotal influence on the trajectory of The Society. She is the author of New Art in the 60s and 70s: Redefining Reality (Thames and Hudson, 2001) and most recently Michael Asher: Kunsthalle Bern, 1992 (Afterall, 2012). In 1995 she was the co-curator (with Ann Goldstein) of* Reconsidering the Object of Art, 1965–1975*, organized at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. She has published widely in exhibition catalogues and journals.
