CM Burroughs

CM Burroughs brings a formal inventiveness to her poems as they explore the body’s vulnerabilities and protective impulses. Her first book, The Vital System, tangles with desire and grief, sensuality and survival, violence and illness, building from poem to poem with vivid powers of self-observation.

Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Columbia College Chicago, Burroughs has been awarded fellowships from Yaddo, The MacDowell Colony, and Callaloo Writers Workshop, among others.
