Given ongoing public health concerns, our spring programs will be presented online in reimagined formats.
Hoa Nguyen is the recipient of a 2019 Pushcart Prize and was nominated for the 2017 Griffin Poetry Prize. The author of Violet Energy Ingots and other books, she writes complex poems that find their footholds in everyday experience, the slippages of language, and the natural world.
For this online program, Nguyen presents her poems in a special home-recorded reading, in response to works by Miho Dohi. Selecting poems from her recent books and a forthcoming title, Nguyen reflects on palimpsests, tension and suspension, and a charged sense of time outside of time, among other things, in both her own work and the artist’s sculptures.
