    (This event has already happened.)

In this one-hour class, which is open to the public, Moriah Evans will guide participants through a somatic practice of initiating movement from deep inside their body’s internal organs. To access their insides, participants are directed to prioritize the felt sensation of their flesh. The group will be instructed through a dancing methodology of five distinct energetic modalities—vibration, drawing, rhythm, displacement, and electrocution. Organ Work supports participants to feel, name and dance from the information obscured within their bodies.

This class takes place in the Renaissance Society gallery. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early, so the class can start promptly at 11AM. An RSVP is not required.

Organ Work emerged during the development of Evans’s previous works Figuring (2018, SculptureCenter, NY), Configure (2018, The Kitchen, NY), BASTARDS: We are all Illegitimate Children (2019, NYU Skirball Center, NY) and Remains Persist (2022, Performance Space New York; 2023, MOCA LA).
