Over the past three decades, Peter Kowald has established himself as one of the premiere musicians in the field of improvised music. Although he has done numerous recordings in ensembles of all sizes with every major European improviser, Kowald’s solo work is legendary. Whether the moment is fragile or aggressive, his range and technique are never short of sublime. His 1995 solo recording Was Das Ist (What It Is) is a testament to the timeless nature of his solo improvised work.
Here he presents a bass performance.
