Friends of the Gamelan certainly aren’t strangers to the University of Chicago. They rehearse regularly at Rockefeller Chapel where they also perfom on occasion. We are pleased to lure away a small group of these performers for a concert of gadon style gamelan. Gadon hails from Java and features the form’s softer instruments, notably the rebab, a string instrument of Islamic origin.
