From correspondence between the Byzantine Chorus and the Renaissance Society:
The Byzantine Chorus, under the direction of Demetrios Pappageorge, will give a concert at Mandel Hall under the auspices of the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago on Friday evening, November the 6th, at 8:20. The program will be Byzantine music, ancient ecclesiastical and old and new folk songs and dances.
The concert will be divided into three parts, with two ten-minute intermissions. Part I—Byzantine Singing
> Part II—Demotic songs after Byzantine forms. These songs are catchy in their tunes, pleasant in their appeal, and ugh lighter in their mucial forms.
> Part III—Byzantine SingingThe organist is Mr. Elias Blodgett Osterhaut
A special pamphlet program will be supplied explaining the music, its form and history.
On the evening of the concert the ushers will be young Greek ladies, dressed in costume, picturesque and colorful. The young women are students of the University. The male members of the choir will be dressed in tuxedos and the women in white chiffon dresses. The stage setting should be either black drops or brilliant blue. Both colors are susceptible to advantageous light effects. Light effects will be worked to suit the mood of the program, changing with each part of the program.
