The Ren at EXPO CHICAGO: APRIL 7-10

The Society of Merch & Multiples

The Renaissance Society will participate in EXPO CHICAGO from April 7–10. Join us for a special presentation both honoring the history of our longstanding editions program and celebrating renewed experimentation with editions (and merch) by artists animating the Ren today.

From the archives to now

This selection brings together editions by Ren history-defining figures—such as Robert Barry, Isaac Julien, and Felix-Gonzalez-Torres—alongside newly commissioned editions. Some of these projects, such as a limited-edition lithograph by painter Xinyi Cheng, give artists the opportunity to engage with mediums outside of their standard practice. Others, like Jill Magid’s 10-penny jig, extend the life of a major artwork that made its debut at the Ren–through alternate forms of documentation, highlighting details that may otherwise have gone unseen.

Together, these works foreground ideas of collaboration and connection at the heart of our artist-centered work: past, present, and future. They also span a range of prices and categories, from a rare artist proof in our archives, such as Kara Walker’s Cannisters, 1997, to t-shirts conceived by Meriem Bennani, available at sliding scale prices.
