Meriem Bennani’s Life on the CAPS debuts at the Toronto International Film Festival, on view at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery from September 9 through 18, and presented by the Vega Foundation.
Co-commissioned by the Renaissance Society with Nottingham Contemporary, UK, Life on the CAPS, the final chapter in this film trilogy of the same name, was presented at the Renaissance Society from February 27 through April 17, 2022.
Set in a supernatural, dystopian future, Life on the CAPS (short for “capsule”) surrounds a fictional island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. In the world of the CAPS, teleportation has replaced air travel, and displaced populations utilize this mode of transportation to cross oceans and borders.
