The Renaissance Society is pleased to announce that artist Meriem Bennani will serve as the organizer of RenBen 2025 , the museum’s annual artist-commissioned gala. Scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, 2025 , the event coincides with EXPO CHICAGO 2025 and EXPO ART WEEK and will grant Bennani full creative freedom to shape this one-night experience. The fourth edition of the Ren’s artist-driven gala continues a tradition established in 2022 by Piero Golia, followed by Adam Linder in 2023 and Kevin Beasley in 2024. Bennani’s appointment as creative lead comes shortly after the opening of her latest solo exhibition, For My Best Family, on October 30, 2024, at Fondazione Prada in Milan. It also builds on her successful partnership with the Renaissance Society, which began with the acclaimed 2022 solo exhibition, Life on the CAPS.
RenBen 2025, the Ren’s largest fundraising event of the year, will showcase Meriem Bennani’s creative vision, offering a unique and memorable gala experience. Proceeds from the event will support the Ren’s mission to highlight emerging artists and fund its core programs, including new commissions, Intermissions, concerts, events, and publications.
Meriem Bennani, celebrated for her groundbreaking work in digital media, video installation, and sculpture, has earned international recognition for her innovative explorations of identity, technology, and contemporary culture. Her work, which combines humor, surrealism, and critical commentary, includes notable projects such as Life on the CAPS and the video sculpture Windy on New York’s High Line, both of which have captivated audiences and critics alike.
“I’m excited to reimagine RenBen as an event that pushes boundaries,” said Bennani. “It’s an opportunity to bring together the art world and the local community in a celebration that goes beyond fundraising—it’s about creativity, collaboration, and redefining what an evening of the sort can be.”
