In The Last Cruze, LaToya Ruby Frazier observes how the idling of the General Motors auto plant in Lordstown, Ohio has disrupted the lives of its workers and their families. This exhibition grows out of Frazier’s close collaboration with the local United Auto Workers union in Lordstown, a deep engagement that has continued as workers are transferred to other plants and the UAW goes on strike nationwide.
For this discussion, Frazier joins two leaders of UAW Local 1112: President Dave Green and Financial Secretary Rick Smith.
Touching on the developing events and drawing on their knowledge of labor history, they’ll speak about the exhibition, the cultural significance of the local unions in Lordstown, and the role of unions today.
