For this virtual program, W.J.T. Mitchell, a leading scholar and theorist of media, visual art, and literature at the University of Chicago, offers his reflections on Dala Nasser’s exhibition at the Ren before joining the artist in conversation. Known especially for his work on the relations of visual and verbal representations in the context of social and political issues, Mitchell is the author or editor of many books, including Landscape and Power (1994), which Nasser describes as a lasting resource as she thinks about her work.
