The Renaissance Society of The University of Chicago announces an exhibition of paintings by Teng Kwei, F.R.S.A., now Research Fellow of Harvard-Yenching Institute, to be held under the auspices of the American Friends of China and the Renaissance Society, November 1st to 11th, in Room 205, Wieboldt Hall, 1050 East Fifty-ninth Street, daily (including Sunday) from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M.
There will also be an exhibition of Chinese antiques, paintings, and mortuary statuary loaned by the Art Institute.
An informal reception will be given in Wieboldt Commons on Monday, November 3d, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., by the Renaissance Society for its members and the members of the American Friends of China, at which the Chinese Consul-General, Dr. Koliang Yih, and Dr. Berthtold Laufer of the Field Museum will be guests of honor. Dr. Laufer will speak about the work of Mr. Teng Kwei at 5:30 P.M.
Biography:
Teng Kwei, painter, sculptor, M.F.A., F.R.S.A., formerly art instuctor of the University of Washington, Seattle, now a research fellow of Harvard-Yenching Institute, Harvard University.
Present interest; A Comparative study of fine arts of China and Europe. Permanent interest; research into history of Chinese Art (painting and sculpture besides).
Member and founder of Suchow Fine Art Society, member of Pacific North-west Fine Arts Society, and Fellow of Royal Society of Arts, London.
