Diane Severin Nguyen (b. 1990, Carson, CA), who lives between New York and LA, will present a new video installation anchored in the visual and political context of the Vietnamese community in Poland. This lens grounds the exploration of globalism and the effect of ideologies on non-Western bodies. Integrating an important element of music (K-Pop), the work continues Nguyen’s artistic interests in considering how cultural touchstones like songs and shared histories are fragmented and woven together in new ways over time and in different places.
Curated by Myriam Ben Salah.
The project, which will be accompanied by the artist’s first publication, is co-commissioned with SculptureCenter in New York, where it was on view through December 13, 2021.
