  • This exhibiiton features three like-minded but independent Austrian artists. In the tradition of psychologists Franz Mesmer and Sigmund Freud, and artists Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Arnolf Rainer, Brandl’s paintings, West’s sculptures, and Zitko’s drawings exhibit varying degrees of psychological and physiological catharses. Through their sensuous colors, tactile surfaces, and excruciating mark-making these immediate and complex works function as physical extensions of the human body, as well as renewed evidence of our subconscious depths.
