Opening reception at the Renaissance Society, 3-6pm
Cobb Hall, 4th Floor, 5811 South Ellis Ave
Artists Lydia Ourahmane and Alex Ayed will be in conversation about their second collaboration and new exhibition, Laws of Confusion, with curators Myriam Ben Salah and Karsten Lund at 3pm on the 3rd floor of Swift Hall, nearby the Ren, at the University of Chicago.
Concurrently, there will be an opening reception in the gallery at the Renaissance Society from 3-6pm to celebrate the artists. The gallery will be open for regular weekend hours both Saturday and Sunday, beginning at noon.
Register for the talk in advance to guarantee your spot; walk-ins may be accommodated, but only as capacity allows.
The event is free to attend and no registration is required for the opening reception in the gallery.
Masks are required at all times in the building. All tickets are will-call; no printed or digital ticket is necessary for entry. However, all attendees must show one of the following at check-in for entry: proof of COVID-19 vaccination (vaccine card or photo of vaccine card); documented negative result from a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event; or a current University of Chicago I.D. card.
The 3rd floor of Swift Hall is reachable by stairs or elevator. The north entrance to Swift Hall is behind a small number of concrete steps; a ramp on the south-west side of the building provides wheelchair access to the 1st floor and elevator. This is a seated event, and volume levels will not be excessive. Live captioning will be available.
